“I began learning golf for the first time at age 35 so I could enjoy playing with my husband. Barrett transformed my game to the point that I now feel comfortable and confident playing at our country club.”

In Barrett's words
My coaching combines my own playing experiences with an instructional foundation centered on biomechanics and finding the right pattern for each student based on their physiological makeup and goals.
The best coaching embraces the things a player naturally does well, understands how their body moves, and tailors a pattern to those characteristics. In other cases, a player may have struggled with the same issues for years. A different road or pattern can create a new trajectory, unlocking confidence and direction in their game.
My experiences and knowledge have given me different perspectives to draw from when deciding how to get the most improvement from each player. That work goes beyond swing mechanics. My goal is to help players build confidence and control, sharpen the mental and strategic side of the game, and understand what makes them successful when they are playing well and what to return to when they face setbacks on the course.
I believe that is the formula for lasting improvement. It is when a player truly begins to own their golf swing.
Inside a lesson
Every lesson adapts to the player. We may work on movement, ball flight, short game, putting, practice habits, decision-making, or the mental side of competition. The purpose stays consistent: understand what is happening, choose the highest-value priority, create a useful change, and leave with a plan.
Online coaching brings the same player-first approach to a remote lesson. Contact Barrett to discuss the format and what to prepare before getting started.
We begin with your goals, playing history, frustrations, on-course tendencies, and the situations where your game and mindset feel most and least dependable.
I watch how you move and how the club, ball, and ground respond. For in-person sessions, Trackman data supports the lesson when it answers a useful question.
We identify the priority with the greatest potential impact, whether it involves technique, skill, strategy, preparation, or confidence.
Guided repetitions and clear feedback turn the idea into a movement you can recognize and reproduce.
You finish with focused priorities, a practice structure, and an on-course plan for responding when your swing, decisions, or confidence begin to drift.
The academy · In development
The planned academy is designed for golfers who care about improving, from juniors building a strong foundation to adults pursuing new goals and competitive players preparing to perform. Junior golfers will have a dedicated development pathway, while every player can rely on me as a resource for their swing, mental approach, short game, putting, practice habits, and the demands of competitive golf.

Foundation, confidence, competition, and a healthy relationship with improvement.
Clear instruction for golfers who want to understand and improve their own games.
Detailed partnership around mechanics, preparation, strategy, and trust under pressure.

A little about me
Competition shaped how I see the game. Great coaches shaped how I teach it.
I grew up in Kalamazoo, earned two All-State Super Team selections, and received a scholarship to play at the University of Iowa. I made three NCAA Championship appearances, earned First Team All-Big Ten honors, and finished runner-up for Big Ten Player of the Year as a senior.
After college, I played professionally for 11 years, earned eight professional wins, and competed for five seasons on PGA Latinoamérica. Working with talented coaches throughout that career fueled my fascination with different teaching philosophies and made coaching a natural next chapter.

Why I coach
Understand your swing.
Trust your game.
Golfers deserve more than a better swing. Every player should understand what makes them successful, trust it when the pressure rises, and know how to respond when the course tests them. That is how improvement lasts. That is how a player begins to own their game.

We’ll start with a conversation, not a test. I’ll ask about your goals, learn about your game, and help you leave with one or two clear priorities you can feel good about.
